It was a busy week at Wayne Center Elementary!
Student Council sponsored their annual Jump Rope for Heart event for our students after school on Wednesday. Students jumped rope and did different activities to promote heart healthy living and to raise funds for the American Heart Association. Our students always have a great time participating in the event.
Our sixth grade band along with the bands from North Side and South Side performed for incoming sixth graders and students’ families. The band did a phenomenal job performing and showcasing their talents. The incoming sixth graders were able to learn more about the instruments that make up the band and begin thinking about what instrument they would like to play. Fittings for next year’s band will take place next week.
“The R.O.A.R. is Right” was the theme of our schoolwide convocation this week! Modeled after the Price is Right game show, students guessed the amount of items in the plastic cup for a chance to play a Minute to Win It type activity. In order to do so, students answered questions about R.O.A.R. expectations and what they would do in different situations. It was great fun for all our students and a great review of our schoolwide expectations.
Lastly, this weekend a number of students will be participating in the annual F.A.M.E. Festival in Ft. Wayne. Miss McClarnon has selected a wide range of artwork to have on display during the festival. Our Music Makers will be performing with the South Side Music Makers on Sunday too. We have such talented students at Wayne Center, and the F.A.M.E. Festival is a great way to show others how talented our students really are!
